Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged the new Sports Minister, Kofi Adams to prioritize Ghana Football especially the senior National Team, Black Stars of Ghana and avoid politics.
The Monarch of Asante Kingdom believes politics plays a vital role in the retrogression of Black Stars.
According to him, the new Sports administration should not allow political interference in choosing players but rather, they should appoint good Technical Team to choose players for the National Team.
“We don’t know anybody except politics, you only hear we won, this one loss, Black Stars loss. Ensure that Black Stars move forward because we have been disgraced for long. Don’t bring your own players from anywhere, you have to appoint good Technical Team to choose good players, if you don’t go by that and allow everyone to bring a player of his choice it won’t help.” Asantehene made these remarks when the Sports Minister visited him at Manhyia Palace.
He said the same instruction has been given to Ghana Premier League Giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko in order to make Ghana Football competitive.
“I have told Asante Kotoko that I don’t know any player from anywhere other than the talented players they are building. You should not allow people to bring their players from somewhere to go and play so that we can succeed.” He said.
Asantehene lamented the performance of the Black Stars in the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
“We all feel sad when the Black Stars lose, we didn’t progress when we went there (AFCON), so you must be focused and I believe that you can do it.”
