The Deputy CEO of Nwabiagya Rural Bank PLC, Mr. Richard Badu, popularly known as Wondrous , has promised to improve the standard of education in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, with a strong focus on girl-child education.

Mr. Badu who is contesting for the position of District Chief Executive at Atwima Nwabiagya North District, said it is his vision to promote girl child education in the district while holistically improving the standard of education in the district.

In an interview with Nana Akwasi Kyere of Hello FM, Mr. Richard Badu explained that education is the cornerstone of sustainable development, highlighting the need to address the barriers preventing children, especially girls, from accessing quality learning opportunities.

He outlined his plans to provide scholarships, improve school infrastructure, and launch community sensitization programs to encourage parental support for girl-child education. He believes these initiatives will empower young girls to contribute meaningfully to their families and society.

“I will  work to improve the standard of education in the district, with a strong emphasis on girl-child education.  I will establish a sponsorship scheme to support the education of girls in the district.

“At Nwabiagya Rural Bank PLC, we currently have a sponsorship package for brilliant but needy students. As DCE, I will lobby for a parcentage of that sponsorship package to be allocated specifically to enhancing girl-child education in Atwima Nwabiagya North District.”

“Empowering girls through education is not just about their future it’s about the future of the entire district. Educated girls are the foundation of strong, prosperous communities,” he said.

Mr. Badu also shared his vision for the holistic development of Atwima Nwabiagya North District. He aims to improve healthcare, expand infrastructure, and foster economic opportunities for all residents. According to him, he will transform the Barekese and Owabi dams to boost tourism in the district.

Mr. Richard Badu seized the opportunity to outline some of his achievements in employment over the past 10 years.

“I have implemented several measures to support grassroots supporters of the NDC. For instance, I facilitated the employment of seven NDC members at Nwabiagya Rural Bank PLC.

“I own 10 pharmaceutical stores where I have employed NDC members, and I have also employed members of the party to work at my poultry farm which is located in the district.

“I facilitated access to loans for four NDC women’s groups, enabling them to secure financing at low interest rates without the need for collateral. These efforts are part of the contributions I have made in my small way. If given the opportunity to serve as the DCE, I will be in a position to extend even greater support to people across the district.” He said

Mr. Badu continued, ”There are a lot of quarry site in the district, I will lobby for investors to invest in the quarry sites, ensuring that about 70% to 80% of those that will be employed at the quarry sites are from Atwima Nwabiagya North District.”
