Aowin Traditional Council banishes NDC MP Oscar Ofori Larbi over galamsey allegations

The Aowin Traditional Council has banished the Member of Parliament for the constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hon. Oscar Ofori Larbi over alleged disrespect and illegal mining (galamsey) activities.

The angry chiefs dressed in black and red attire performed rituals by pouring libation and sacrificing a white sheep as their tradition demands to deal with someone who disrespect them.

They prayed that the gods would deal with Oscar Ofori Larbi if he steps foot in the Aowin land.

The invocation was led by the Chief of Omanpe, Nana Opong Payin III.

“If he steps foot on our land, let the gods deal with him, Pouring of this libation means all the chiefs have disassociated themselves from him, we don’t want him to go to our land. If he has disrespected the Omanhene, he has disrespected us all.” He said.

The chief explained that the ritual is not a curse but they are following the tradition of their ancestors to deal with someone who disrespect them.

“Someone will say we have cursed him. President John Dramani Mahama, this is not a curse, this libation is a tradition and culture our ancestors taught us to banish anyone who disrespect us and fail to honour our summons. So MP, Oscar Ofori Larbi, all the chiefs in the Aowin Traditional Area, spirits, gods, today, we are performing these rituals to banish you not to step on our land.” He explained.

Adding that “We don’t have anything to do with you again, we have MCE here, we have Regional Minister in Western North. Mr. President, we know Aowin is part of the country so if you have any developmental project for us, you can pass through the Regional Minister and the MCE. Also projects that will come to Aowin through the NDC Executives and the MEC are also welcome but the MP we do not have any governance with him.”

“We are in pain and want to send this message to the President to advise his MP but if he refuses and steps on our land, let the gods and idols deal with him.” The angry chief stated.
