Techiman Presbyterian church District organizes ‘Agent of Peace’ dialogue campaign ahead of the 2024 December polls

The Techiman Presbyterian church District, has organized a peace dialogue campaign dubbed ‘Aget of Peace’ ahead of next year’s general elections with the theme “Seek peace and pursue it’

The dialogue which took place at the premises of the Techiman Trinity Presbyterian Church was aimed at reminding Ghanaians of the need to avoid violence and maintain peace before, during and after the December elections.

In attendance of the peace dialogue were  members of the church, Nananom, political parties NCCE, th Electoral Commission and all other relevant stakeholders

Addressing the gathering, the Head Pastor of the Techiman Presbyterian church District, Pastor Augustine Agyapong Bae said there is a need to maintain peace in the country as it is a crucial tool in national development.

“Our aim is to preach peace to everybody, because peace is very crucial to the development of every society. Peace is a very precious asset an as a result, the church as a responsibility to educate the populace on the importance and need to uphold our peace.” he explained

Touching on the 2024 December elections ahead, he admonished members against any act that will impede peace in the country before, during, and after the elections in their communities, at their workplaces and everywhere they find themselves.

He said “we should not wait until the day of the elections before we preach about peace, we must start now so that we can all approach the 2024 elections with a peaceful mindset, I urged all and sundry to seek peace before, during and after the elections.

The Akwamuhene of Techiman Traditional area and acting president of Techiman Traditional council, Nana Owusu Agyare II.  who was the special guest of honor also urged politicians to desist from monetizating politics as he strongly believes the monetization of politics especially voting is a leading cause of election violence in the country.

“If you look at election violence, it’s all due to money, it’s cash, a politician will seek for any foul means to get money to influence voters to send him or her to parliament and the youth who engage in such political violence do so due to money”. He told the gathering.

Nana Owuss Agyare II, made a passionate appeal to the government and the powers that be, to amend the constitution in order to cease the monetization of  politics especially voting in the country.
