Chelsea FC strikers Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu Paz are expected to miss the FA Cup fourth-round showdown against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, February 8, 2025, due to injury.
The Blues will travel to face the Seagulls at the Falmer Stadium, but both their starting and backup center forwards appear to have picked up knocks in Monday’s 2-1 come-from-behind victory over West Ham United, and are likely to miss the game against Brighton.
Guiu, who has scored six goals in 13 appearance across all completions for Chelsea sustained his injury during stoppage time of Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham after coming on as a substitute in the second half to help turn the game around. The 19-year-old stretched awkwardly in trying to convert Pedro Neto’s cutback in the area and received treatment from Chelsea physios after staying down.
Despite initial reassurances from Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are taking a precautionary approach and ruling the 19-year-old Spaniard out for the weekend’s FA Cup match.
Adding to Chelsea’s woes, Nicolas Jackson has not been spotted in any training pictures yet this week, raising concerns about his fitness. The Senegalese forward also went down injured during Monday night’s clash. Jackson has been a key player for Chelsea this season, registering nine goals and five assists across all competitions.
With the absence of Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, Christopher Alan Nkunku is expected to lead the line for the Blues against Brighton.
Chelsea will be hoping their injury setbacks do not derail their ambitions in the FA Cup, as well as their hopes in qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
