A devastating fire broke out at Mpasaaso D/A Junior High School in the Ahafo Ano South West District on February 3, 2025, at approximately 10:30 pm, resulting in the destruction of all school properties.
According to the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Kwaku Duah Gilbert, the recent fire outbreak was allegedly caused by an individual. The devastating fire destroyed all school properties, including laptops, desktop computers, printers, textbooks, teachers’ notebooks, and important documents.
This incident marks the second time the school has suffered a fire in the past five years, with the first occurrence happening at Mpasaaso Number One. The school is now appealing to the government to take immediate action to address this recurring issue.
Mr. Gilbert also highlighted the urgent plight of the Form Three students, who are on the verge of sitting for their final exams. He appealed to both government and non-government organizations to provide immediate assistance, which would greatly support the school in this critical time.
Mr. Eliasu John, Assistant Headmaster of Mpasaaso Number 2 D/A JHS, also made a passionate appeal to the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide support for the school. Specifically, he requested assistance with constructing new classrooms, providing chairs, and equipping the school with necessary teaching and learning materials. This support, he emphasized, would greatly benefit the final-year students, enabling them to excel in their upcoming BECE exams.
On his part, the Assembly Member for Mpasaaso Number 2, Mr. Charles K. Asare, in an interview with the media shared his personal struggles, including a recent injury, He called on the government and other organizations to as a matter urgency come to their aid in constructing new classrooms, particularly since Form Three students are nearing their final exams.
