The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has revealed his top three priorities for the region, highlighting key areas of focus for its development.

In an interviews with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, the Minister, outlined his strategic priorities, which he believes will significantly impact the region’s overall development.

According to him, the first priority is to strengthen the capacities of the various assemblies in the region in order to manage the expectations of the people as he is of the view that the region’s development hinges on how well the district and municipal assemblies thrive.

“One, to strengthen the district assemblies, build their capacities in order to be able to absorb the shocks and manage the expectations of the people. You know, development drives more when the district assemblies have the capacity to drive development. That is the pivot so that is number one.” He said.

The Volta Regional Minister pledged to promote peace and development in the region and strengthen district assemblies to foster progress, as he revealed that promoting peace is his second top priority for the region.. He said, ”number two, ensure peace in the region so that development can drive.”

James Gunu, disclosed that, President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to prioritizing road infrastructure in the Volta Region is among his top priorities as the Regional Minister.

He revealed that, under his leadership, the region will experience significant road construction projects aimed at making transportation easier and more comfortable for residents. This initiative he believe will fulfil President Mahama’s commitment in improving road infrastructure in the region.

“The third one is to ensure that the priorities of his excellency the president is realized that is roads, there is one major road that is so dear to the heart of the people and the President himself, that is the road to road from Ho to Tokpo, through Agotime- Ziope, through Akatsi North, through Ketu North, through Dzordze, and then to Aflao that is Ketu south.

“That road was selected under NPP as one of the emergency roads when they drew the national budget captured emergency roads in the country and left out voter region, when our members of parliament and the good people of the region started crying foul they then selected that road, but it has never seen any work not even awarding it to a contractor.” He stated.

He continued, “this road is what President Mahama refers to as economic corridor roads, passes through Ho up to Hohoe and link up with the eastern corridor route. That route is one of our topmost priorities.
