An aspiring District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Mponua District Assembly in the Ashanti region of Ghana, Sakina Oforiwaa, has assured the people of the district of her commitment to boosting development and employment through the extraction of Nyinahin bauxite.
According to her, President John Mahama’s vision for the district is to extract the Nyinahin bauxite to boost the local economy. She explained that, if given the nod to serve as DCE, she will work to fast-track the documentation for the bauxite extraction in alignment with the President’s vision.
“President John Dramani Mahama has for Atwima Mponua is to facilitate the extraction of bauxite in our community to boost development and also serve as a source of employment for our youth.
“As the DCE, I will champion that course to ensure that we get the full benefit of the Nyinahin bauxite.” She said
Sakina Oforiwaah, disclosed this to the media after successfully passing her vetting. A total of 8 individuals applied for the position of DCE for Atwima Mponua, and Sakina was among the top three selected to travel to Accra for government approval.
She also expressed her delight of the vetting process, saying “The vetting was very normal, they asked me a lot of questions about my district and by the grace of Allah, I was able to enumerate how the district as well as the landscape of the district, so I am praying to Allah that mantle will be given to me and Atwima Mponua will see a new face and a new direction as well.”
On his part, the Atwima Mponua Constituency NDC Chairman, Mr. Zamat Salifu, popularly known as Chairman Kutu, revealed that he was impressed with the conduct of the aspirants and prayed for an MCE who could help transform the district.
“I was really impressed with how the vetting went—it was peaceful, and I pray we get a competent person as our MCE,” he said
