Oyeadeye Asa Akompanin calls on political party leaders to preserve Ghana’s peace

The Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area and Techiman Krobohene, Oyeadeye Asa Akompanin, has called on leaders of the various political parties with emphasis to the Flagbearers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to preserve the peace and harmony in the country.

Oyeadeye Asa Akompanin, in an interview with our reporter at his palace at Krobo, in the Techiman North Municipality of the Bono East Region, admonished leaders of the two main political parties to refrain from any comment that has the tendency to threaten the peace of the country.

“As the December 7th draws nearer for electorate to cast their votes and elect a new President for the country, the political parties have also doubled the efforts in their campaigns and as such, it is also very important to remind the two leaders or aspirants of the two political parties New patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Party (NDC) to protect and maintain the peace and order in the country before, during, and after the elections.” He said.

According to him, the unfortunate incident that happened last four (4) in the Techiman South constituency is still fresh in the mind of the inhabitants of the constituency and do not want such incident to repeat itself.

The Chief of Krobo and Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, urged Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama to educate the followers about the need for peace and peaceful coexistence in the country as he is of the view that by so doing, the views of others will be tolerate which will in turn lead to a peaceful elections.

” His Excellency the vice president of the state Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the former President John Dramani Mahama have to talk to their teeming followers and educate them about the need for peace before, during, and after the elections because thier names will be attached to anything bad that may happen as a result of the elections.

He also appealed to the electorate to think about what the future holds for them and their Children. saying “the electorates should value peace politics is about explaining what you can do and your ideas and not insults. Respect for authority is natural Law and if you fail to abide by the natural law you will face the consequences of it.”

The Techiman Krobohene made a passionate appeal to the Electoral Commission to be transparent in their activities  and ensure that this year’s elections will be free, fair, and violence free

Touching on security issues, Oyeadeye Asa Akompanin, prayed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to be vigilant during these times saying “the utterances of some politicians cannot be taken for granted and any person or group of persons who will undermine the processes of peace before, during, and after the election must be severely dealt with by  the Law.” He said
