The Member of Parliament for Techiman North, has commissioned women and children ward for the Offuman Health Center in the Techiman North Municipality of the Bono East Region.
The newly commissioned ward, comes with toilet and bathroom, two (2) pediatric beds, two (2) babies cot and six (6) additional beds for women is aimed to improve the health care services for women and children in Offuman and its surrounding communities.
Hon. Elizabeth addressing the gathering said she is proud to have been able to bring this new ward to the Offuman Health Center. According to her, women and children are some of the most vulnerable members of our society, and it is our duty to ensure that they have access to quality health care.
She further disclosed that, the Offuman Health Center, was established her late father and former Member of Parliament for Techiman North and deemed it fit to uplift the image of the health facility.
“After extensive consultation, I realized that one of the things that the people of Offuman really want is a children and women ward. We will all remember that, this clinic was built by Hon. I. K. Adjei Mensah of blessed memory.
“The population of Offuman wasn’t that many when the clinic was built as compared to the current population, so I deemed it appropriate to continue with the good works that my father started hence the building of this ward.” She said.
Hon. Elizabeth, promised to build a dormitory block for the Offuman Senior High School. She explained that, when she was the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Art, during the regime of former President John Dramani Mahama, a contractor was awarded to build a dinning hall and a dormitory for the Offuman Senior High School.
She acknowledged the fact that the contract hasn’t been cancelled by the current NPP government, however, after the construction of the dinning hall, the contractor is no longer on site to complete the construction of the dormitory block.
Hon. Elizabeth promised to see to the construction of the dormitory block during the next NDC government.
“This is not the first time I am doing something significant for the people of Offuman. When I was the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Art, I awarded the construction of a dinning hall and a dormitory to a contractor and through that, Offuman Senior High School now has a dinning hall.
“However, the dormitory block hasn’t been materialized yet but I promised you that I will work on it and when the NDC comes to power, we will build a storey building as a dormitory for the Offuman Senior High School.” She said.
The Paramount Chief of Offuman who was the Chairperson of the occasion, Nana Kwaku Gyan Brokour II, praised Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and the NDC government for the numerous developmental projects that have supervised in Offuman and its surrounding communities.
Nana Kwaku Gyan Brokour II, disclosed that, the three most important things for the people of Offuman have all been fulfilled by the NDC government and Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has also contributed her quota to the development of the community.
” There are three things that are very dear to we the people in Offuman and all those three things have been fulfilled by the NDC government.
“Gone were the days that we use our phone lights during a night event like this but thanks to the NDC, we now have lights in our community and that has came movement in the night very easy for us.
“Aside that our road network was very bad, we went through hell when ever it rain some years ago because the road from Offuman to Tuobodom was always unmotorable whenever it rained but thanks to the good works of the former President, John Dramani Mahama, that road have been fixed and the challenges we used to face when using the Offuman – Tuobodom road have been solved.” He said
Nana Kwaku Gyan Brokour II, continued, “0ur secondary was built by our former chief, Nana Kwasi Pra and the NDC in 1992 adopted the school as a government school and today we are here to witness the commission of this beautiful children and women ward.
“In fact, the health center in Offuman was built by the father of Ofusu Adjare who was our former Member of Parliament.”
