2024 election: Dr. Bawumia concedes defeat, congratulates Mahama

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, data from the NPP’s internal coalition of the election results indicates that former President John Dramani Mahama has won the Presidential election decisively.

He said he has called his opponent, Mr. John Mahama and congratulated him on his victory.

“I have just called his Excellency, John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him as president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.”

“Following yesterday’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections, Ghanaians at home and abroad have been sitting awaiting the outcome of the elections. Let me say that the data from our own internal coalition of the election results indicates that former President, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama has won the Presidential election decisively.” The Vice President said in a press conference on 8th December, 2024.

Dr. Bawumia also admitted that the results that have been recorded show clearly that the NDC won a majority in Parliament.

“The NDC has also won the Parliamentary election. Even though we await the final coalition from the number of seats. However, I believe ultimately that these will not change the overall outcome.”

Meanwhile, Former President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that he received a call from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to congratulate him following his emphatic victory.

“I have, this morning, received a congratulatory call from my brother Dr @MBawumia, following my emphatic victory in Saturday’s election. Thank you, Ghana.” Mahama wrote.

Many Ghanaians are jubilating after former President Mahama projected as the winner of the 2024 election.
