Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ghana Premier League club Asante Kotoko, Richmond Nii Lamptey has been celebrated for his inclusion in the final squad of Ghana National Team, Black Stars for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
Ghana Black Star coach, Chris Hughton has announced his final 27-man squad for the (AFCON) tournament.
Richmond Lamptey’s selection among the 27-man squad has brought excitement for Ghana Premier League giant, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and their fans.
Reacting to the list of X, Kotoko coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum said Lamptey is the man.
According to him, the former Inter Allies player’s dedication, hard work, discipline, and passion to play and excel at the top level have brought him to this level.
“Your dedication, hard work, discipline, and passion to play and excel at the top level have paid off! Congratulations, Nii!”

The three Ghana Premier League players named on the roster were Asante Kotoko player Richmond Lamptey with the other two being Medeama SC duo of Jonathan Sowah and Hamidu Abdul Fatawu.
The Black Stars are in Group B for the tournament and will face Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
Ghanaians have fully given their support to the National Team ahead of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Ghana defender Baba Rahman has explained his decision to pull out of Ghana’s National Team, Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
Baba Rahman was initially named in Black Stars 55-man provisional squad. But his name was missing in the final squad for the AFCON tournament.
In a statement on his X, Baba Rahman stated that his decision to opt out of the AFCON was solely based on footballing reasons and nothing else.
