The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Barimah, has revealed that his outfit has done all the work to make things easier for any investigative body conduct an investigation into the operations of the National Service Authority (NSA).
The Media Foundation for West Africa on December 4, 2021, petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate alleged corruption and related activities at the National Service Authority (NSA).
The petition, was based on months of investigative reporting by The Fourth Estate, which is a public interest and accountability investigative journalism project of the Media Foundation for West Africa. The investigation uncovered what it described as a pattern of corruption and mismanagement at the NSA, reportedly costing the state of million of cedis annually since 2018.
The discovery of the payroll discrepancies prompted President Mahama to take decisive action to ensure transparency and accountability within the Authority. President Mahama has subsequently directed the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to immediately conduct an investigation into the operations of the National Service Authority (NSA) following the discovery of 81,885 suspected ghost names on its payroll.
Reacting to the latest development, Sulemana Barimah has explained that, his outfit has taken all the necessary steps to provide relevant information and evidence that will aid the investigative body in uncovering the truth behind the fraudulent activities.
